Perhaps there is no more basic statement of Nietzsche’s philosophy in all his writings than this sentence. “The goal of humanity cannot lie in the End but only in its highest specimens“.Some even know that the higher man invites and provokes criticism of himself to receive a hint about his injustices which are yet unknown to him. Everybody knows that to be able to accept criticism is a high sign of culture.… Greatness would consist in “holding one’s own in an unfinished system with free, unlimited views” as Leonardo da Vinci did. The will to a system is a lack of integrity. For this reason Nietzsche opposed the State because it intimidates people into conformity. … Nietzsche says the most universal human characteristic is either fear or laziness. He does not yield to his inclinations and impulses and is willing to give up even his relatives and friends, if intellectual integrity demands it. He abandons what he loves most, if rationality requires it.

… The powerful man is the rational man who subjects even his most cherished faith to the severe scrutiny of reason and is prepared to give up his beliefs if they cannot stand this stern test.

… Nonconformity is the necessary condition of self-realization. Independence of the soul … even one’s dearest friend one must be willing to sacrifice for it.See Book Notes for other books I have read.
